SAN JUAN VINEYARDS ESTATE GROWN 2006 SIEGERREBE
From our Estate Vineyard seen as you drive along Roche Harbor Road, our Siegerrebe
vineyard is in view. This interesting, light varietal has aromatic floral and tree fruit nose with crisp
citrus and pear flavors finishing with a hint of grapefruit. There's just a hint of sweetness. The
Siegerrebe is a wonderful, summertime entertaining wine.
Food Pairing: Yes, we have worked successfully pairing the Siegerrebe with many
Shellfish entrees. The Siegerrebe pairs best with Sauteed Prawns with a lemon/caper
sauce served over pasta, a Prawn appetizer, Crab Cakes, a light Clam Chowder, or
a Bouillabaisse. And, remember to add a bit and a sip while you are preparing the
meal.
Our 2006 Siegerrebe was released shortly after bottling. A Silver medal was awarded the Siegerrebe in
June, 2007 at the prestigious Riverside State Fair in Riverside, CA.
Growing and Winemaking:
The Siegerrebe is a German and Austrian varietal grown where temperatures are cooler such as our
Puget Sound area. It is a great growing grape for our Puget Sound Appellation of which we are a part.
The Siegerrebe is a beautiful fruit looking like Gewurztraminer in the vineyard. It is delicious!!
The Siegerrebe was picked on September 30, was whole cluster pressed, fermented, and ready for the
April bottling.
